Kaufland Bulgaria supports the development of green logistics in the country

Are green logistics possible in Bulgaria? Yes, the supermarket chain Kaufland shows us how.

Kaufland Bulgaria is the only company in the group of German hypermarkets in which 85% of deliveries to hypermarkets are made by trucks powered by natural gas (CNG). The company supports the development of “green” logistics in the country and since 2018 the number of CNG trucks that serve the deliveries of Kaufland is constantly increasing.

“To be the first company from the European family of Kaufland, which can boast of ‘green’ delivery at the local level is a reason for pride for the country. It can be said that Kaufland Bulgaria is pushing for the entry of CNG engine trucks in our country. The logistics service providers we work with provide a guaranteed business and a reliable partner and this gives them the security to invest in new and positive natural technologies “, commented Emil Dimitrov, Director of Logistics at Kaufland Bulgaria.

The chain makes ‘green’ deliveries to its hypermarkets in cooperation with its logistics partners PIMK, Biomet and Eurotransport 2000, operating with Iveco and Scania LNG trucks. Data from NGVA Europe from 2019 shows that the subsequent use of LNG and CNG technologies can reduce greenhouse gas emissions up to 95%.
