Renewable Gases for Road Transport: Fit for 55!

Making best use of European technologies and innovations to decarbonise our mobility

The Natural & bio Gas Vehicle Association (NGVA Europe) is delighted to invite you to its Annual Event 'Renewable Gases for Road Transport: Fit for 55!' which will be held online on Thursday, 28 October 2021 from 14:00 to 16:00 CET.

Decarbonising transport is essential to achieve the ambitious EU climate targets and help Europe’s transition to a clean energy system. In this context, with scientists, representatives from the European institutions and the industry, we will discuss European technology: innovating for ‘Fit for 55’ and The transformation of long-haul transport – a heavy duty for Europe within two panels.

REGO Europe presents: Panel 1 – European technology: innovating for ‘Fit for 55’

European companies are constantly innovating to support the goals of the European Green Deal. As there is a huge diversity of low emission powertrain and fuel technologies, those based on electricity are not the only ones. At the same time, there are numerous currently available technologies that are immediately ready to play their role in decarbonising Europe and powering new business opportunities for start-ups, SMEs, big companies and citizens.

This panel will shed light on the technologies from, and the challenges and opportunities for the European automotive sector and critically discuss how to harness these in order to achieve the EU’s 2030 objective of cutting road transport GHG emissions by 55%.

  • Barbara Thaler – Member of the European Parliament
  • Dr Andreina Moreno, Technical Manager Gas Powertrain – Dinex Group
  • Cristiano Musi, Group CEO – Landi Renzo S.p.A.
  • Eric Bippus, Senior Commercial Executive in Alternate Fuel Vehicle Segment – Hexagon Composites ASA

Impulse Presentation

  • Prof. Dr. Thomas Willner – HAW Hamburg

TotalEnergies presents: Panel 2 – The transformation of long-haul transport – a heavy duty for Europe

Realistic, feasible options for decarbonising the heavy-duty transport sector are limited. As such, various options are on the table: biofuels, hydrogen and electrification. As Europe is facing the tremendous challenge of getting the necessary task done, 2022 will therefore be the year in which the Revision of the CO2 Emission Standards for Heavy-Duty Vehicles will be tabled.

To kick-off the discussion surrounding this challenge, the panellists will present and debate their perspectives on and solutions for the coming years regarding the myriad of choices available, alongside how to shape the transition process.

  • Dr Jens Andersen, Secretary General – NGVA Europe
  • Jochen Momberger, Business Development BioLNG DACH – Shell
  • John Wilson, Vice President Gas Mobility – TotalEnergies
  • Katerina Razlova, BU Director Automobility – DHL
  • Lars Mårtensson, Environment and Innovation Director – Volvo Trucks
